COMPASS commends Holden School staff, Charlestown, for a successful year of services with students and families, and a successful merger.

"To get respect you must give respect. Treat people the way you would be treated" -
Holden Student

COMPASS is pleased to announce its merger with The Holden School, effective July 1st, 2007. With our 60 years of combined experience, we'll be even better able to pursue our mission to equip those we serve with the skills to become self-sufficient, productive members of society.

The Holden School is a small, private, non-profit middle/high school located in Charlestown with a reputation for providing high quality special education, counseling and behavioral interventions to low income, high risk students. Since first opening its doors in 1976, the Holden School has been guided by the belief that young people who many believe will fail can succeed and contribute constructively to their communities if they receive a supportive yet disciplined environment and the attention of caring, skilled adults.

We help students who are referred to us by public school districts when their needs are not met in other settings. Our students represent a variety of cultures and neighborhoods in and around Boston. We work with students as individuals; building on strengths and addressing weaknesses. As required by special education law, tuition is paid by the school districts. The school uses additional funds, provided by grants and private donors, to supplement required services with arts, sports, computer skills and more.
