The Caring Force Launches First Metro Boston Rally to Advocate for Fair Wages and Funding for Human Services
The Caring Force will host the Metro Boston Rally on Friday, September 25, bringing together over 200 human services workers, individuals served, and advocates from across the region to call for increased funding and fair wages for the human services workforce.
This inaugural event will unite the sector in a powerful show of advocacy, highlighting the essential role human services workers play in supporting Massachusetts most vulnerable communities while urging policymakers to act on key workforce priorities to help improve working conditions in the sector.
The rally is sponsored by Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), Bay Cove Human Services, Casa Esperanza, Children’s Services of Roxbury, Communities for People, COMPASS, Family Independence, JRI, Morgan Memorial Goodwill, North Suffolk Community Services, Roxbury Youthworks, Sojourner House, The Home for Little Wanderers, TILL Inc., Victory Programs, and WORK Inc.
Attendees will begin the morning with a light breakfast, followed by remarks from human services workers and the people they serve. The program will also provide opportunities for participants to engage directly with legislators and connect with fellow advocates.
Highlights of the rally include:
- Personal stories delivered by human services staff and clients from sponsoring agencies
- A legislative panel with representatives of the Metro Boston delegation, including:
- Senator Nick Collins, First Suffolk
- Representative Jay Livingstone, 8th Suffolk
- Representative Chris Worrell, 5th Suffolk
- A unified call to legislators for increased investment in the community-based human services sector
