COMPASS Statement
In recent weeks, there have been numerous reports on a national level about racially-motivated hate crimes towards members of the Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) community. We at COMPASS denounce hateful and racist acts that impact those we serve, our staff, and society.
Members of the APIDA community have experienced hate crimes and discrimination within the United States for hundreds of years. With the spread of the COVID-19 virus across the world, there has only been an escalation of hostility towards individuals of Asian descent. These acts of hate span generations and continue to cause pain and trauma in society. The APIDA community deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
At COMPASS, we celebrate the tremendous power that diversity brings to our organization and those we serve. We promise to continue supporting our staff, youth, and families to develop peaceful, productive, and anti-racist ways to engage in courageous conversations that span differences.
