COMPASS School’s Annual Violence Prevention & Recognition Day was wonderful! The event’s agenda only BEGINS to convey the excitement, pride and celebratory mood that was evident throughout the event.
Highlights included:
- Special recognition of 5 COMPASS High School graduates
- Individual recognition of students for Community Service and Mentoring
- Recognition of student gardeners who planted and maintained COMPASS garden(s)
- recognition of student awarded COMPASS Peace Award
- a display of Science Fair Projects, along with awards for outstanding projects
Thanks was given to the following community agencies and businesses for their support of COMPASS School’s high school students participating in COMPASS’ Transition Services: Lamberts Market; Franklin Park Zoo; Pep & Sasha’s Auto; Coleen’s Flowers; Boston Public Library in Fields Corner; and Community Servings. Students volunteered in these establishments on a regular basis, obtaining valuable job experience.
Elementary, middle and high school aged students were cheering, dancing, sharing raps, and much more. Observing students coming to the stage for recognition, or to entertain the audience that was gathered with music and dance, was a reminder that miracles truly happen here… every day… and over time.
