COMPASS Students Volunteer at Local Businesses

The Transition Team at COMPASS is pleased to announce the placement of several of our Vocational students in volunteer positions throughout the greater Boston area. These placements range all the way from the zoo to the kitchen!! We are so proud of these students and we appreciate the tremendous amount of support from these local businesses. Thank You!

Sean M. is volunteering at Lamberts Fruit Market in Dorchester. His responsibilities include collecting carriages, janitorial services, and unloading trucks. Sean reports, I like to go to work. The people are really friendly there.

Ruth K. began a volunteer position at the Boston Public Library Field’s Corner branch in April, 2012. Her responsibilities include filing, copying and reading to the children. I really like working with the little kids, says Ruth.

Christian C. has begun his internship at the Franklin Park Zoo as a Keeper’s Aide. He is assisting with feeding and caring for the animals, cleaning exhibits, and answering questions from Zoo guests. I really like going to the Zoo and working with the horses, Christian says.

Sherrill House, an Elderly Care Facility in Jamaica Plain, is another internship site that COMPASS Culinary students will begin working at in the upcoming months.
