COMPASS STATEMENT
Official compass statement about the events of january 6, 2021:
The events that unfolded in our nation’s Capitol Building on January 6, 2021 threatened the very foundation of democracy in the United States. We are keenly aware after the events of this past week that not all Americans are treated equally.
This event reminds us that violence is never the answer to any controversy. Communication and collaboration are imperative to moving forward and enacting change. COMPASS takes pride in providing our youth and families the skills to safely navigate their environments.
We promise to continue supporting our staff, youth, and families to develop peaceful, productive, and anti-racist ways to engage in courageous conversations that span differences. This includes being active in holding discussions about the deep divisions in our country that lead to everyday injustices.
