Making Summer Gains

COMPASS provides a six-week summer school program for approximately fifty K-12 students. During each week, the students receive academic and social enrichment, clinical support, and the opportunity to explore a variety of educational opportunities throughout Massachusetts.

Young Men’s Group: Respect, Acceptance, Consistency

In the spring of 2018, he (KJ) began working with Caseworkers Jaye Kincade and Kin’ta Johnson to form a young men’s group with COMPASS’ high school students. This group offers 7-10 young men a relaxed setting where they can openly discuss successes, challenges, hopes, and fears. Providing insight based on their own experiences KJ, Jaye, and Kin’ta engage with these young men in a very real and respectful way – which they receive in return from the young men.

Read Across America Month

Schools around the country are organizing activities of this type to celebrate Read Across America week in a nationwide effort to promote literacy. The COMPASS School has been and continues to be invested in this initiative, and it is thanks to the teachers that the celebration has been such a huge success.

Kindness is Contagious

National Random Acts of Kindness Week (also called RAKWeek) is taking over COMPASS, with creative kindness ideas adding something sweet to our days. This national celebration encourages people to commit “acts of kindness” just for the sake of making someone’s day.
