COMPASS School Leadership Announcement
We are writing to share the important news that after 25 years, Principal Elizabeth “Beth” Labbe will be retiring from COMPASS in June 2021. During the past two and a half decades, Beth has been an integral part of the COMPASS School, which has grown and evolved in the services it provides and the students it serves.
When Beth first arrived at COMPASS in January of 1996, she began as a Teacher who worked with high school students who were court-involved and had a long history of truancy. As her role expanded, she worked throughout the school getting to know all of the students and staff. In 2000, Beth took on the role of Principal and has held that title to this day, leading the School staff to provide effective and impactful services for students.
“COMPASS is appreciative of all the work Beth has done over the years,” says Laura Lajewski, COMPASS Executive Director. “She has touched the lives of so many students and staff and will be greatly missed. I know that COMPASS will continue to be strong as we move through this next chapter.”
Beth shared some reflections about her time at COMPASS, “When people ask what I like about my work, I tell them that I love to see our students move forward, even when the steps are small. I tell them that I am blessed to work with a group of amazing people who are committed to our children and their families.” Beth continued with, “I am also grateful for an organization that values each one of our students and strives to make their challenges smaller and their lives better each and every day!”
Additional communication about the transition plan will be shared in the coming months.
Please join us in celebrating Beth’s 25 years of service to COMPASS and her next chapter!
